Reports To: Executive Director
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, friendly, and compassionate Personal Assistant to join our assisted living team. This position is not primarily a hands-on caregiving position. Our Personal Assistants are here to provide residents with everyday support, assistance, companionship, and help with routine needs while encouraging them to remain as independent as possible.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with seniors, has a helpful and positive attitude, and takes pride in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Friendly, patient, dependable, and professional
- Enjoys working with seniors and helping others
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow facility policies and procedures
- Must respect resident privacy and confidentiality
- Must demonstrate patience, kindness, tact, and a positive attitude
Responsibilities
- Provide routine assistance and support to residents based on their individual needs
- Assist residents with basic daily activities as needed or requested
- Provide medication reminders
- Document services provided on required logs
- Greet residents and assist or escort them throughout the facility as needed
- Change bed linens and make beds as requested
- Complete assigned light housekeeping and weekly housekeeping duties
- Spend time interacting with residents and providing companionship
- Assist residents with everyday tasks while encouraging independence
- Observe residents and report any noticeable changes or concerns to the Executive Director
- Report unsafe conditions or safety concerns to appropriate personnel
- Follow all facility policies and procedures
- Attend required staff meetings, training, and in-services
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information, including Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Treat every resident with kindness, dignity, fairness, and respect
- Help maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the facility
- Work cooperatively with other team members to ensure residents receive the assistance they need
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is kind, reliable, patient, and willing to help wherever needed. This role is centered around supporting our residents with their everyday needs, providing companionship, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
While our Personal Assistants may provide basic assistance when needed, this is not intended to be a traditional caregiver or CNA position. Our goal is to help our residents maintain their independence while being available to provide support when they need it.
