Why: The people of southern and eastern Kentucky are suffering acutely from historic economic changes taking place around the country. Yet, this region also contains immense potential for a promising new future ? exceptional talent, vast natural resources, and burgeoning innovation.

What: The summit will be a first step in building cooperative action, aligning new investments, and creating the groundwork for greater regional growth and prosperity. It will lay the foundation for development of a new vision and action plan for southern and eastern Kentucky.

How: Together! Collaboration on new policies, programs and investments will be essential. The SOAR summit will be highly interactive and give all participants a chance to have their voices heard. A new and better future is only possible if we unite and combine our resources.

Who: You ? and others from the business community, non-profits, foundations, local government, financial and educational institutions and the citizens of southern and eastern Kentucky ? including the region?s young people who will be leading us into our new future.

When: Monday, December 9, 8:30 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m.
