Valley Health awards 2025 Minority Health Care Scholarships and the Cokey Muth Scholarship

HUNTINGTON, WV (June 25, 2025) – Valley Health is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Valley Health Minority Health Care Scholarships and the 2025 Cokey Muth Nursing Scholarship. Four outstanding students, each of whom has demonstrated exceptional commitment to pursuing careers in healthcare, were awarded a total of $17,000 in scholarships.
The recipients of the 2025 Valley Health Minority Health Care Scholarships are:

· Nia Bakhshaee - Senior at Herbert Hoover High School - Accepted to the University of Charleston, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

· Melanese Benjamin - Sophomore at North Carolina Central University - Aspires to become a Pediatrician. This is the third year Benjamin has received the Minority Healthcare Scholarship.

· Trinity Lilly - Senior at Winfield High School - Accepted to Marshall University, with aspirations to become a Psychiatrist.

The Cokey Muth Registered Nurse Scholarship was created in the fall of 2023 to honor the life and legacy of late Valley Health Systems Inc. Board member and registered nurse Cokey Muth.

The recipient of the 2025 Cokey Muth Nursing Scholarship is:

· Tate Adkins - Freshman at the University of Charleston - Accepted to Saint Mary’s Medical Center School of Nursing for Fall 2025.

These scholarships are designed to support diverse individuals who hope to make a significant impact in the healthcare field. The scholarship winners were honored and presented with their scholarships checks during a reception on June 25th.
