SynTerra seeking to help Eastern Kentucky companies and communities thrive
Pikeville, KY (March 5, 2020) – Founded in 1993, SynTerra Corp. is a rapidly growing engineering and science consulting firm with clients from coast to coast. Additionally, the company looks to expand and bring new engineering services to the Eastern Kentucky region. The name SynTerra is made up of two parts: Synergy and Tera. Synergy represents the companies promise to its clients and the community, while Tera represents the responsibilities to Earth.
Before merging with SynTerra in 2019, Mining Consulting Services, Inc. was formed in 1983 having offices in Pike County. The company then changed names to Engineering Consulting Services, Inc. (ECSI) in 1985, remaining in Pike County.
“My goal for SynTerra in Eastern Kentucky is for people to think of us for all their science, engineering or mining consulting service needs,” said Karen Roberts Prater, SynTerra project administrator.
The company currently operates seven branches located in: Greenville, S.C.; Birmingham & Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Charlotte, N.C.; two offices in Lexington, Ky.; and Pikeville, Ky.
SynTerra serves various markets, which include industrial, chemical, mining, forest products, power and energy, water and wastewater, construction, governmental, and institutional. They provide the following services: ecological sciences, mining engineering, industrial compliance, civil engineering, solid waste engineering, due diligence and property services, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, chemical process engineering, data management, and litigation support. They are also one of only two firms with FAA licensed drone operators providing services throughout the continental United States.
