Southeast Kentucky Chamber Welcomes Kentucky 811 As A New Member
PIKEVILLE, KY (February 2, 2024) -- The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Kentucky 811 as a new member.
Kentucky 811, a non-profit corporation comprised of member operators of underground facilities in the state, plays a vital role in promoting safe digging practices and reducing damages to buried utilities statewide. Established in 1987, Kentucky 811 has been instrumental in streamlining the process for requesting the marking of buried utility lines, preventing incidents that can lead to property damage, utility service interruptions, personal injuries, and even loss of life.
Under Kentucky’s “Call Before You Dig” law, it is mandatory for anyone planning excavation work to contact Kentucky 811 at least two full business days before commencing a project. This free service provided by Kentucky 811 ensures that member utilities are promptly notified to mark their buried utility lines at the dig site.
“At Kentucky 811, advocating for safe digging isn’t just a job for me – it’s a passion”, said Jamie Gaddis, Damage Prevention Manager for Kentucky 811. “Connecting with our community, I understand the vital importance of calling 811 or submitting a ticket online. It’s more than compliance with the law; it’s a commitment to the well-being of everyone. Whether it’s as simple as installing a mailbox or undertaking any earth-moving projects, let’s prioritize the safety and community harmony by easily submitting that ticket online or making that free 811 call.”
“Having Kentucky 811 join our Chamber is a testament to our commitment to strong community that focuses on the welfare and safety of its people,” expressed Jordan Gibson, President & CEO of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber. “We look forward to working together for the benefit of our community.”
