Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Now Accepting Excellence in Education Grant Applications

PIKEVILLE, KY (October 17, 2023) – The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for the Excellence in Education Grant Program for the 2023-2024 grant cycle. The application portal will remain open until December 1, 2023.

To improve the program, there are two changes that have been made this year. First, any school may apply, even if they have recently received funding from the program. However, priority will be given to schools that have not received funding within the last two grant cycles. Secondly, the maximum funding amount has been increased from $1,250 to $1,500.

The primary focus of the Excellence in Education Grant Program is to support schools that require resources to address areas where additional funding is needed. The program places particular emphasis on projects that enhance the academic enlightenment of students, ensuring a brighter future for our community.

“We believe that investing in education is the cornerstone of a prosperous future,” said Jordan Gibson, President & CEO of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber. “Through the Excellence in Education Grant Program, we aim to empower our schools to provide enriching academic experiences, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

The Excellence in Education Grant Program funds more than $5,000 in educational projects annually to schools in the Chamber’s eight-county service area of Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, and Pike. Since its inception, nearly $75,000 has been awarded through the program. Each school selected for this year’s grant cycle is eligible to receive up to $1,500.
