Southeast Kentucky Chamber Hosts Lunch & Learn with American Red Cross
PIKEVILLE, KY — January 13, 2026 — Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce welcomed members and community leaders to their January Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, Jan. 13, featuring American Red Cross with a presentation by Stacy Taylor, Community Outreach and Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator for the organization.
Held at the Garfield House in Pikeville, the event provided attendees with an in-depth look at the Red Cross’ mission and the wide range of services it provides in Eastern Kentucky, many of which extend beyond what the public may traditionally associate with the organization
Taylor’s presentation, “Get to Know Us Before You Need Us,” highlighted the importance of building awareness and preparedness before emergencies occur. She outlined the Red Cross’ core service areas including blood services, support for members of the country’s armed forces and their families, disaster response, and community and youth preparedness initiatives.
A key focus of the presentation was the organization’s measurable local impact. Taylor shared success stories from the Sound the Alarm, Save a Life program, which works to install free smoke alarms and educate families on fire safety. She also noted that more than 825 students in Pike County have received emergency preparedness training through the Preparedness with Pedro program, which helps children learn how to respond safely to emergencies.
“The American Red Cross plays a critical role in our communities, not just during times of crisis, but every day through education, preparedness, and support,” said Jordan Gibson, President and CEO of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber. “We hope this Lunch & Learn helped our members better understand how these services directly benefit Southeast Kentucky and how individuals can get involved before disaster strikes.”
The Lunch & Learn series is part of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber’s ongoing commitment to providing programming that connects its membership with resources and organization making a positive impact across the region.
