Southeast Kentucky Chamber Holds Monthly Membership Meeting with Dr. Pam Sparks Stein, DMD, MPH

Pikeville, KY – September 19, 2023 - On Tuesday, September 12, the Southeast Kentucky Chamber held its monthly membership meeting at the Garfield house in downtown Pikeville. The meeting featured guest speaker Dr. Pam Sparks Stein, DMD, MPH, who is the Founding Dean of the University of Pikeville College of Dental Medicine.

The meeting was well attended by members of the Chamber and local business owners, and local dentists who were excited to hear Dr. Stein speak about the innovative new College of Dental Medicine.

During her presentation, Dr. Stein discussed the vision of the new College of Dental Medicine, which not only values the highest standard of care, but also seeks to integrate health care through interprofessional practices. The UPIKE College of Dental Medicine will be the third dentistry school in the state of Kentucky and seeks to admit around 50-60 students per class.

After Dr. Stein’s presentation, there was a short question and answer session, where attendees had the opportunity to ask her specific questions about the new school, which is projected to open next year in Fall of 2025.

“We were excited that Dr. Stein joined us for our monthly membership meeting,” said Katie Belt, Programs and Media Manager for the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. “Her innovative ideas and vision for the new College of Dental Medicine will spark inspiration that will spread to the faculty and students.”
