SEK Chamber Holds Ribbon Cutting for Big Sandy Health Care’s Women’s Health Mobile Clinic

PIKEVILLE, KY (May 7, 2024)—The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at 23 Willow Drive in Auxier, KY to celebrate the launch of Big Sandy Health Care’s Women’s Health Mobile Clinic on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The event began at 10 a.m. with opening remarks from Dr. Leslie Dotson. Other speakers included Rick Hughes, Mayor of the City of Prestonsburg; Jordan Gibson, Southeast Kentucky Chamber President & CEO; Charly Wise, Executive Director of the Floyd County Chamber; and Dr. Sammie Gibson, Physicians for Women Clinic Director. After remarks were made, the speakers cut the ribbon together and posed for photos.

The Women’s Health Mobile Clinic has been operational since October of 2023 and is already making a great impact on this region, helping women and expectant mothers receive quality care regardless of ability to travel. The Mobile Clinic is fully equipped to be able to perform ultrasounds, pap smears and other services.

“The Big Sandy Health Care Women’s Health Mobile Clinic is just one of the innovative ways we are providing quality care close to home,” said Laken Meade, Director of Nursing for Big Sandy Health Care. “We believe the Mobile Clinic will break down transportation barriers by bringing full-spectrum women’s health care to the patient, so the patient doesn’t have to travel to get the care they need.”

“We’re glad to be able to participate in this ribbon cutting for the Women’s Health Mobile Clinic,” said Chamber President & CEO, Jordan Gibson. “We look forward to continuing to support Big Sandy Health Care as the organization grows and we’re excited to watch them continue to succeed in providing quality healthcare to patients in this region.”
