Johnson County, KY (May 1, 2023) - Patton Leadership Institute (PLI) visited Johnson County for a day of exploration and learning. The group was led on a tour of Big Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) technical classes including the new state-of-the-art Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs. They also visited the East Kentucky Advanced Manufacturing Institute (eKAMI), Butcher Holler, and attended a workshop on the book The Power of Positive Leadership.

The tour of the BSCTC Technical Classes gave the PLI group a firsthand look at the cutting-edge technology and innovative training methods used to prepare students for careers in the dental field. The group was impressed with the expertise and knowledge the instructors and students demonstrated throughout the tour.

The group began the first of a two-part workshop on The Power of Positive Leadership, led by Casey and Sabrina Lequire. The workshop focused on strategies for developing positive leadership skills, creating a culture of positivity in the workplace, and fostering collaboration and teamwork among team members.

After the workshop the group visited eKAMI to learn about the school’s mission to train the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals. During the tour, the group members were able to see firsthand eKAMI’s commitment to providing high-quality education and student training in the fields of computer numeric control (CNC) machine programing and robotics.

The day concluded with a visit to Butcher Holler, home of the late country music legend Loretta Lynn. The group was given a tour of her childhood home and learned about the rich history of Van Lear and the surrounding area.

Patton Leadership Institute’s visit to Johnson County was successful. The group was exposed to the area's innovative educational and training opportunities and the region’s rich cultural history and heritage.
