MCHC Celebrates Grand Opening of Knott County Optometry
HINDMAN, KY — October 29, 2025 — The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce joined Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation (MCHC) on Tuesday, October 29, to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for the new Knott County Optometry Office in Hindman, KY.
The celebration took place during an Open House of the facility with hot dogs fresh off the grill, giveaways, and goodies curtesy of MCHC staff. Despite a little rain, the ribbon cutting went on as planned after being moved indoors to the bright and welcoming optometry waiting room with the newly designed glasses display and fitting area serving as a backdrop through a striking floor-to-ceiling glass panel.
The Chamber was joined by MCHC officials and staff, Dr. Cliff Caudill of KYCO, Knott County Judge Executive Jeff Dobson, MCHC CEO Mike Caudill, and Dr. Haley Champion-Caudill, the office’s resident optometrist.
A graduate of the Kentucky College of Optometry at the University of Pikeville and a Knott County native, Dr. Champion-Caudill expressed her excitement and gratitude to be returning home to care for her community.
“It’s an absolute dream come true to come back home and provide care to the people who have always supported me,” said Dr. Champion-Caudill.
Dr. Champion-Caudill also brings specialized expertise in a laser eye procedure, the first of its kind to be offered in Knott County, expanding access to advanced eye care services in the region.
During the ceremony, MCHC CEO Mike Caudill shared heartfelt remarks about the significance of the moment, reflecting on both the newly renovated space, which was once a pharmacy before relocating to the nearby MCHC Clinic, and the homecoming story of Dr. Champion-Caudill.
“Coming home to take care of those in your own community is what Eastern Kentucky is all about,” said Caudill. “We may not have the industries and factories of the world, but what we do have is something the world envies—strong, resilient, and warm people.”
The Southeast Kentucky Chamber is proud to support MCHC’s continued investment in Eastern Kentucky’s health and wellness. The addition of the Knott County Optometry Office marks another step forward in expanding quality care and services for local residents.
