The Appalachian Center for the Arts (App) proudly presents the Warriors of AniKituhwa, members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, for a traditional dance performance. Designated as official cultural ambassadors by the Tribal Council, these spirited Cherokee dancers bring to life traditional dances including the War Dance and Eagle Trail Dance, which were described by colonial officer Lt. Henry Timberlake, a visitor to the tribe in 1762. The Warriors wear clothing and jewelry that are accurate reproductions of the 18th century Cherokee styles and their program includes a discussion of the significance of these dances
