\nOctober is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
\n\;
\nPresently\, COA\, CMOF\, Western KY Coal Association\, Kentucky Coal Academy\, TECO Coal\, FACES and Kentucky Coal Association have joined together in a joint effort to show our support for the fight against cancer. \; All of our families or friends have been touched by this horrible disease in some manner. \; We are asking all coal miners to proudly display a pink\, "Coal Miners Care 2" decal on their hard hats or wear a pink article of clothing on Friday\, October 28\, 2011. \; \;

\nWe are asking each coal miner to donate $5 to receive the Coal Miners Care 2 decal. (The decals may be obtained from Coal Operators &\; Associates\, Coal Mining Our Future or TECO Coal by calling one of the numbers listed at the bottom of this letter) We'd like each coal company to compile their employee's contributions and present it on behalf of their company\, payable to either the American Cancer Society or the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. \; Also\, TECO Coal will be matching employee contributions (up to a limit) and we are encouraging other companies to do likewise.

\nLast year's inaugural campaign raised $56\,000 for the fight against cancer and was distributed evenly to the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in a televised ceremony. \; This year's ceremony will be at Booth Auditorium on the campus of the University of Pikeville on Friday\, October 28\, 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m. \; We hope to increase the amount raised and donated to the fight against cancer. \; In addition to the televised ceremony at U-Pike\, television crews will also cover coal miners going to work wearing pink on Friday\, October 28.
