The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (SEKC) hosted the 10th Annual Links for Learning Golf Scramble on September 15th at Raven Rock Golf Course in Jenkins, Ky. The event raised over $6,000 for the Chamber’s Foundation for Education.

The Foundation for Education awards $5,000 annually in grants to schools within the Chamber’s eight county region. More than $45,000 has been awarded since the Foundation began in 2008. Last year’s grant winners include Betsy Layne High School, Dorton Elementary, Elkhorn City Elementary, and Phelps Elementary.

Thirteen teams, composed of Chamber members, participated in the scramble. With a score of -17, first place was awarded to US Bank (Patrick Damron, Corbet James, Lonnie Osborne, and Jack Walters). The SEKC team (Michael Haney, Brandon Patton, Neil Slone, and Nathan Thomas) came in second, and third place was Double Kwik (John Gabbard, Dwayne Osborne, William Petry, and Gary Sykes). Prizes were also awarded for the Putting Contest, Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Longest Putt.

Appalachian Wireless sponsored the awards, gifts, and prizes, lunch was sponsored by Food City and Shred-All Documents, and many other businesses supported the event as team sponsors, hole sponsors and raffle donors.
